Gifts to CU Over the Moon: Celebrate Lunar New Year with the AACC contribute to...
The AACC wishes everyone great happiness and prosperity during this springtime and throughout the year. Lunar New Year (LNY) is the most important celebration for many Asian and Asian American communities.
AACCโs goal is to promote cross-cultural understanding and inclusion across all student communities on campus and to promote a sense of belonging for Asian international and Asian diasporic students.
The festival holds significant cultural importance to Asian diasporic communities, serving as a time to celebrate traditions, foster community connections, promote inclusivity, and educate others about Asian cultural heritage. In 2025, we welcomed the Year of the Snake, symbolizing wisdom and transformation. Help us to continue our initiatives that bring joy and cultural awareness to our campus and community.
This has been our 18th year of LNY outreach collaborating with dozens of campus unit/college partners, local elementary schools, and Champaign-Urbana community organizations.
This beloved tradition brings to the community the distribution of 15,000 lucky red envelopes to students, educational activity kits, and the lending of dragons and decorative exhibits to our partners to support LNY festivities across campus and the CU community.
AACC also provides training and educational materials for local K-5 educators in alignment with Illinois State Content Standards and the TEAACH Act (Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History).
Our traditions include a vibrant LNY celebration dinner with campus partners and emerging new programs with our CU community.
Your financial contribution will help us continue to offer these resources to even more people across our campus community.
