AACC’s Lunar New Year program objectives are outlined below:
Cultural Education and Awareness. Educate attendees, regardless of age or background, about its significance and the associated cultural traditions, thereby raising awareness of the diversity and richness of Asian cultures and promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation among participants.
Community Building and Engagement. Establish a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages children, college students, and community members to gather, celebrate, and connect with one another, fostering a sense of belonging and unity while strengthening social bonds and relationships within the community.
Celebration and Festivity. Offer a fun and festive experience for all participants by providing a variety of activities, performances, and entertainment tailored to different age groups and interests. Additionally, aim to celebrate the cultural heritage and traditions of Asian Americans in a joyful and meaningful manner, creating lasting memories and experiences for attendees.
Empowerment and Representation. Empower attendees and participants to take pride in their cultural identity and heritage, fostering confidence and self-esteem. Additionally, cultivate empathy and understanding by encouraging participants to appreciate the diverse experiences and perspectives within the community, promoting representation and inclusivity.
Education and Skill-Building. Provide opportunities for learning and cultural exploration by offering hands-on activities and demonstrations that showcase traditional crafts, cuisine, language, and other aspects of Asian culture.
