For 75 years, Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) has been the summer destination for middle and high school aged musicians from the state of Illinois and beyond. Past attendees and employees all agree - ISYM is a special place that challenges students to reach higher and nurtures their talents in a welcoming environment. ISYM is a community where students can focus on what they love most while making friendships that last a lifetime.
Students at ISYM are immersed in music activities for a full week. They learn from the best: University of Illinois School of Music faculty, alumni, and students and many distinguished professionals from around the world.
On Saturdays, family and friends return to campus to hear the final concerts before heading back home. It’s a proud moment for the students to share what they’ve been working on and seeing the energy and excitement this brings is nothing short of inspiring to the audience.
